The Pact of Choshui River

After serving a 15-year prison sentence, Wang Wen Tung coincidentally encounters Li Ming Nan, a young man who has come to Hualien to escape emotional debts. Ming Nan grew up as a fashionable and precocious teenager in Ximending. Seeking to obtain profits from land sales, the land deed becomes a collaboration contract between Wang Wen Tung and Ming Nan.
Ming Nan takes Wang Wen Tung back to Ximending to raise travel funds and reconnects Weng Tung with Taiwanese society, which he has been estranged from for a long time. He witnesses a generation that is wealthier yet more lost, realizing that the distortion brought upon individuals by the larger environment remains unchanged through generations.
The two embark on a journey to find the paradise in Wang Wen Tung's mother's heart, located in the mountains of Zhushan, where they can overlook the Zhuoshui River. Along the way, they revisit Wen Tung's desolate seaside hometown and encounter the unrequited love that led to Wen Tung's imprisonment. This journey also allows Ming Nan to undergo a spiritual growth, experiencing the bitter, sweet, sour, and spicy aspects of life.
These two marginalized individuals from different eras forge a touching friendship in their quest for the paradise of life. It is a journey of redemption, friendship, and spiritual connection—a contract of life.
