Offing

On a volcanic island located southeast of Taiwan lives an indigenous Tao community of Austronesian descent. A-Lan, from the younger generation, returns home and finds a way of living, yet he is still torn between the traditional and the modern life. There is more that needs to be done; A-Lan's anxiety seems to be hanging in the air.
What is happening on this island is a representation of what's happening in Taiwan. We are torn between different forces and trying to live strong on our land. Just like the flying fish, we are trying to survive between the sea and the sky.
