Like the Dyer's Hand

Ye Jia Ying, born in Beijing, studied under poetry master Gu Sui and became a key figure in Chinese classical poetry, bridging tradition and modernity. She introduced Western literary theory to interpret classical poetry and embraced both classical and contemporary forms. Dedicated to teaching poetry to all ages, she promoted poetry education for children and integrated her life experiences into her work. Despite enduring war, persecution, and exile, Ye continued her poetic journey, returning to China in her later years to reconnect the severed tradition of classical poetry.
