Plot
It is said that a person will fear nothing after experiencing three “temporary disconnects” in life. What is a “temporary disconnect”? Is it a feeling? Or is it a kind of contradiction? Is it a matter of standard presumption vs choice? Or is it the awkwardness of puberty? Or crossing over from youth to old age? All of these guesses are tenable.
"Burning Crows" is about a middle-aged man named RD, whose fiancé Xin Jie — a woman he has lived with for the past 7 years — suffers a sudden and unexpected occupational injury. Though no lives are lost, the injury plunges both RD and Xin Jie into a state of being “more dead than alive”.
